What is the distinction between a type and an antitype?

The Type: is the actual Biblical account of what happened.

The Antitype: is either the spiritual counterpart, or prophetic counterpart.

Examples:

Jezebel is the type, Antichrist is the antitype

Pharaoh is the type, depending on the scenario Satan or God Himself is the Antitype. Pharaoh usually pictures Satan, except in the case of Joseph (See our verse by verse study on Genesis)
