Are you aware of this date? May 21, 2011. End of the world by Harold Camping.

Please look into it and let me know your point of view.

Thanks,

I am not aware of the date set by Harold Camping. I have listened to him off and on in the past when we lived back east.

Harold Camping also predicted a date of 1994, and he put a well-publicized book out on that date as well. The last time I heard him was after his predicted date. One thing that turned me off towards him was that he called others like Miller and Russell false prophets for predicting a date (neither of them had claimed to be prophets or recipients of unique information, but just students of the Bible and by putting together pieces of the puzzle — like Camping himself — came up with various dates.) that didn’t come true, but made excuse for himself that he just mis-read some prophecies.

1994 was a prominent date amongst ourselves as well, and still may prove important in one sense, if we look at the Elijah type. Elijah journeyed from Gilgal, Bethel and other stops each time expecting to be taken. Elijah is a type of the church, and we believe that those stops represent dates where Christians expected to be taken.

We don’t claim to have all the answers, but using dates that we know: 1844, 1914 and 1994, we might be able to account for some of the stops. But the fact is we have not yet gotten to Jordan, we have not yet divided the waters, and Elisha (also pictured by foolish virgins, scapegoat, the group sent back by Gideon, and the other virgin in Song of Solomon, Great Multitude in Rev.) has not yet acknowledged their lack. In other words there is not yet a separation between the two classes of Christians (which we classify as Little Flock–Bride of Christ and the Great Company–multitude)

I don’t have any problem trying to figure out when certain things will come to pass. The problem comes in us getting fixated on a date. We have seen the problems with doing so in the past, with Miller, Russell, Camping and all the others who have come up with dates. You cannot hang everything on a date, but must look at the events that have yet to take place and put them in order and watch and pray and watch to see them come to pass.

So with the 2011, or the 2012 dates the important thing is to be ready today and not next year. We may not have next year personally. Don’t procrastinate, but trim your lamps and finish the race which you started.

We know the “generation” which saw Israel become a state (fig tree putteth forth her leaves) cannot pass away until all this has come to pass, so we know we are close. We know Psalm 83 must come about soon, very soon, and the events in Iran may be what sets it off. We know that the Papacy (man of sin) will come back into persecuting power (we see her cozying up with Russia and Albania trying to get back into position once again). We know that she willl be destroyed, but not before she destroys the true Church, the little flock. So when we see the Woman of the Ephah (Papacy, Zech 5:11) set back up on her pedestal, then know for a assurity that this is the end. Take courage and don’t back down.

The Great Multitude will see her fall, because they lack a sufficiency of the holy Spirit (oil) and watching (water test in Gideon) and were lazy (Song of Solomon) and were not ready to complete their sacrifice on the altar (turned over to Satan for the destruction of the flesh–scapegoat). Only then when they recognize that they have not attained to the high calling, then they will remember “blessed is he that is called the marriage supper (not wedding–Rev. 19:9) and will then do all that they failed to do before.

So the lesson is: do with your might what your hand finds to do, and do not wait until tomorrow.

  1. May 21, 2011 is the end as the Bible declares. There is not much space to explain how the date was arrived, but there is one specific point to address. are we truly saved by God’s mercy? Or have we deceived ourselves? If we are saved by God, the teaching of 5/21/2011 would cause us to check it out carefully and pray God for wisdom.
1Jn 1:8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
