Why was the dedication of the Temple so important to Israel?

The Temple was only dedicated once it was finished. A finished Temple meant now God’s presence could fill it and be with the nation.

Solomon’s Temple:

1Ki 8:10-13 And it came to pass, when the priests were come out of the holy place, that the cloud filled the house of the LORD,  11  So that the priests could not stand to minister because of the cloud: for the glory of the LORD had filled the house of the LORD.  12  Then spake Solomon, The LORD said that he would dwell in the thick darkness.  13  I have surely built thee an house to dwell in, a settled place for thee to abide in for ever.

2Ch 5:13-14 It came even to pass, as the trumpeters and singers were as one, to make one sound to be heard in praising and thanking the LORD; and when they lifted up their voice with the trumpets and cymbals and instruments of musick, and praised the LORD, saying, For he is good; for his mercy endureth for ever: that then the house was filled with a cloud, even the house of the LORD;  14  So that the priests could not stand to minister by reason of the cloud: for the glory of the LORD had filled the house of God.

The Third Temple, Ezekiel’s Temple:

Eze 43:4-7 And the glory of the LORD came into the house by the way of the gate whose prospect is toward the east.  5  So the spirit took me up, and brought me into the inner court; and, behold, the glory of the LORD filled the house.  6  And I heard him speaking unto me out of the house; and the man stood by me.  7  And he said unto me, Son of man, the place of my throne, and the place of the soles of my feet, where I will dwell in the midst of the children of Israel for ever, and my holy name, shall the house of Israel no more defile, neither they, nor their kings, by their whoredom, nor by the carcases of their kings in their high places.

The Spiritual Temple (The Bride)

Rev 15:8  And the temple was filled with smoke from the glory of God, and from his power; and no man was able to enter into the temple, till the seven plagues of the seven angels were fulfilled.
