How was Eve decieved by the Serpent?Nov 21st, 2011 | By admin | Category: Questions You Ask (click for the full answer)
Satan is a wily one. He is not impulsive, but takes his time and studies his victims. Eve was very naive, she did not really understand death, she didn’t understand deceit. Though when created she was full grown, her mind was that of a child, in that it lacked experience. Satan used her naivety, and her emotion and curiosity to get her to do something she knew was wrong. Whether Satan put thoughts into her mind as she watched the actions of the serpent, or whether the serpent actually was able to talk to her, thus proving to her mind that fruit was very wonderful and fully able to make one wise, she was duped into throwing all caution to the wind and disobeyed her husband’s command to not even touch it.
For more information please see our verse by verse study on Genesis chapter 3. Below is an excerpt:
Based on all the serpent said and did, we know that Satan had carefully thought out this matter in advance. For example, Satan chose an opportune moment. He chose both the time and the place, making sure that Adam would not be there. Why did Satan talk to just the woman? He recognized that when the rib (side) was taken from Adam and Adam’s qualities were divided (The feminine qualities in Adam were removed and used in Eve), Eve would be the easier one to deceive. As the Apostle Paul said, “Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression” (1 Tim. 2:14).
