Good morning!

We may have many burdens to bear…

Prayers that we will primarily choose to bear the grandest weight of all, the “excessively surpassing eternal weight of glory!”

This weight of eternal glory transforms all other weights!

Spiritual zero gravity!

Much love in Christ,

#161  Choose Your Groaning  2 Corinthians 5   Part 2

Our experiences in this life are like a tent, (the earthly tent 1 Corinthians 5:1)  a temporary vehicle to get us to a final destination.  Living this life will create a certain tension, the longing and effort to be faithful and to fully please him, now and forever in eternity.  2 Corinthians 5:4

“Being confident therefore always, and knowing that being at home in the body we are away from the Lord, (for we walk by faith and not by sight;) we are confident and pleased rather to be from home out of the body and to be at home with the Lord.”  2 Corinthians 5:6-7

WE ARE CONFIDENT that this present life is temporary, so let us THINK and ACT that way.  Sometimes I think, ‘these challenges never seem to end!  It’s one thing after another after another.’  Well, there is no such thing as an ‘unending trial’ in the perspective of God.  Let us grasp the temporary life in the context of eternity.  Let us grasp the joy of eternal perspective:  “For the momentary lightness of our tribulation works out for us an excessively surpassing eternal weight of glory.”  2 Corinthians 4:17  Strong’s Interlinear

What brings this eternal perspective to life?

“Not considering the things seen, but considering the things not seen” (2 Corinthians  4:18), not focusing on the temporary, but fixing our attention on the eternal.  Feelings, for example, are pretty temporary and changeable.  Feelings are important to acknowledge, to  feel, to  deal with and often to enjoy.  But when we over-focus on them, they have the say on who we are being and what we are doing.  If any story or interpretation of experience that we invent drags us down, it is probably focused on a temporary, shortsighted view.

Short-sighted perspectives create groaning misery.  Eternal perspective creates the weight, carried in partnership with God and Christ,  of holy responsibility toward the privilege of discipleship that has been entrusted to us.

Choose your groaning and thereby choose your joy!
