Good morning!

Did you ever feel like giving up, but something just wouldn’t let you?  There is a persistent power at work within us that does not entertain the option of giving up.

“All that has been begotten of God overcomes the world; and this is the victory which overcame the world, our faith.”  1 John 5:4  Strong’s Interlinear

And so, come what may we will go forward.

Love in Christ,
Joy

#169 The Power of the Persistent Life Within Us  1 Peter 1.23

Jesus had the determination to face every challenge even to the death of the cross.

He was begotten by Mighty power of God.  His new creature bore the image of the Father.  His new creature had the spiritual genetic code of passion and commitment to life with the tenacity and persistence to be and do whatever it takes to have that spiritual life and the life of others grow.  Matthew 3:16,17;  Psalm 40:6-8  He was drawn and bound to His Father, the source of all life, whose very essence is love. Psalm 16:8, 11

He was passionate for life:  ‘I am the bread of life, the water of life, the light of the world.’

He was persistent to fulfill the will of the Father, regardless of the cost, for this was the only way to have life and to offer life to others.

And so “The Lord GOD has opened my ear; and I was not disobedient, nor did I turn back.”  Isaiah 50:5

“I have set my face like flint, and I know I shall not be ashamed.”  Isaiah 50:7

We have inherited patterns and tendencies to live “an empty way of life.”  (Like crying over spilt milk or kicking the flat tire.)  But we were redeemed from this way of life by the precious blood of Christ.  We have seen the deep love of God for us well as the greatness of His power in the gift of the sacrifice of Christ and the resurrection of Christ.  And so our faith and hope are in God.  1 Peter 1:21  We can exercise faith and have hope because our “empty way of life” is under His watch-care and His resurrection power is at work.

Obedience to truth has developed in us sincere love for our spiritual family.  Regardless of the obstacles, we continue to love one another deeply from the heart.  “Since you have in obedience to the truth purified your souls for a sincere love of the brethren, fervently love one another from the heart…”  1 Peter 1:22

We have been equipped to go forward.

“For you have been born again not of seed which is perishable but imperishable, that is, through the living and abiding word of God.”  1 Peter 1:23  We inherited patterns and tendencies to live an empty way of life. But through precious sacrifice of Christ we inherit a new life.  Our spiritual life originates and is nurtured by the imperishable life-principle of God through His living and enduring word—His spoken and written commitments.

“These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, in order that you may know that you have eternal life.”  1 John 5:13  Eternal life is not only an inheritance of the future.  The holy spirit is the guarantee of this inheritance, and the resurrection power of God is NOW at work in all those who are begotten.  Ephesians 1:18-21  The resurrection power of God begets eternal life.  The seed or principle of life is the power of the enduring, living Word of God.  The new creature has enduring eternal life.  Our new creature has the spiritual genetic code of passion and commitment to life with the tenacity and persistence to be and do whatever it takes to have that spiritual life and the life of others grow. We are drawn and bound to our Father, the source of all life, whose very essence is love.  The eternal life within us is persistent life.  Eternal life within us is resilient life.

“For a righteous man falls seven times, and rises up again.”  Proverbs 24:16  “Therefore we do not lose heart, but though our outer man is decaying, yet our inner man is being renewed day by day.”  2 Corinthians 4:16  And through the resurrection power that nurtures this life and the precious Savior that inspires our hearts, we can declare with persistence:

“The Lord GOD has opened my ear; and I was not disobedient, nor did I turn back.”  Isaiah 50:5

“I have set my face like flint, and I know I shall not be ashamed.”  Isaiah 50:7
