Many do not generally grasp the full import of immersion, and look at the water rather than the death which it symbolizes. The real baptism is that which cannot be seen, except in its influence upon the conduct; and the real church which is joined is the church whose names are written in heaven whose members cannot be known positively until the close of this age, when they shall be glorified with the Head.

That which has come down to man as fables usually has some basis of truth—perhaps 95 percent fable (or error) and 5 percent truth. Accordingly, we will present some lessons that parallel, to a slight degree, the lessons of true Christmas, that is, the spirit of Christmas as planned by the Heavenly Father.

It seems inevitable that no two people think alike and that holds true for the Christian as well (unless you are in a cult and have to see everything the same way). So what do we do when someone doesn’t see things quite the same was that we do? This booklet follows the Christian through the thoughts and prayers that need to be made to make the best decisions. This booklet also gives practical examples. We must all be careful not to give reproach on the name of our Lord by our conduct, so we need to make sure we handle these differences as He would have us do!

Still more remarkable is the fact that the doctrines promulgated in his name by his followers lay stress upon the fact that his crucifixion was a part of the divine program; more than this, that his crucifixion was necessary; that by the blood of the cross, by the death of the crucified One, atonement is effected for the sins of the Church and of the world

This message, “Come out of her, my people,” is not to those who are still blind in Babylon; hence it is not the first message to be given out at the present time. The light, the truth, the divine plan of the ages, is to be let shine; the errors of Babylon on various points are to be shown, and how these are dishonoring to God: then it is that the voice of the truth, the voice of these facts, will cry aloud to all who are truly the Lord’s sheep, to separate themselves from such misrepresentation of the divine character and plan, in heart, in person, in purse.

This is an implication that an important lesson is contained in the parable. Nevertheless the world gives little heed to this or other of our Lord’s teachings, and even his professed followers rarely give the Master’s words that deeper, attentive thought necessary to their appreciation, and only he that seeketh findeth the true meaning, the true lessons.

To the crowd of his fellow-citizens—who had but recently awakened to the fact that Jesus was a great prophet, endued with miraculous powers—the Lord was discoursing, doubtless respecting the Kingdom of God long promised, and which he proclaimed to be nigh, even at the door, if the people were willing to receive the message and its blessing. At this juncture four men, bearing on a litter a young man paralyzed and utterly helpless, approached the house with a view to having the sick one healed. His helpless condition probably hindered the ailing one from applying to Jesus on the day when so many of the sick at Capernaum were cured. Now he had found friends and helpers and had come within sound of the Master’s voice, yet was unable to gain access to his presence because of the crowd who were unwilling to make way for him.

In other statements of this promise or covenant God directed Abraham’s mind to the stars and to the sand of the seashore and to the dust of the earth as illustrations of the numbers of his posterity. As yet Abraham had no child: every testimony of this kind was therefore to him a testing of his faith, a suggestion that he should inquire first for a beginning of these matters; and as days and years passed by the testing of faith was increased, yet to our joy we find that Abraham was full of faith in these promises, never doubting the power of God in some way to accomplish all that He had given him reason to hope for. Here we find a lesson for ourselves. Other promises have been made to us, some of which seem to be utterly impossible of attainment. Shall our faith stagger and shall we begin to doubt? or shall we hold fast to the Word of the Lord, nothing wavering, nothing doubting? In order to do so we must discriminate clearly between the words of man and the Word of God, so that we may reject the words of man, resting nothing upon their promises, but our entire weight of trust must rest upon the Word of the Lord.

OUR LESSON relates to the call of Abram (high father), whom God renamed Abraham (father of a multitude), although indirectly the special point of the lesson refers to the calling of Abraham’s seed, natural and spiritual, and the divine bestowments to them, constituting them the centers of hope to the world of mankind.

God tells us that Jesus our Ransom will be mediator of a New Covenant to be testified in due time. As Christians, Jesus is our Advocate and not our Mediator, because through him and by him we have a standing with God and are not at odds. When will this New Covenant take effect? How many covenants are talked about in the Scriptures and when are they applicable? This booklet takes a look at the various covenants and also the sin offerings of the Day of Atonement and their true significance.
