Palestinian unrest subsides in J’lem

After a morning of violent clashes, during which dozens of masked Palestinians hurled rocks at Israeli police and burnt tires in various east Jerusalem neighborhoods, order seems to have been restored to the capital, with the exception of Shuafat, where sporadic clashes were still being reported.

Eight border policeman and security personnel were wounded during the clashes. Four were evacuated for medical attention, and the rest were treated at the scene. Palestinians reported nine casualties.

Berkley, ADL push back on U.S. criticism of Israel

U.S. Rep. Shelley Berkley (D-Nev.) and the ADL described the State Department’s tough criticism of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as an “overreaction” — Berkley said it was an “irresponsible overreaction” and the ADL said it was a “gross overreaction.”

The Obama administration routinely condemns Hamas terrorism and has chided the Palestinian Authority for dragging its feet on talks. It has not pronounced on the naming of the square after a Dalal Mughrabi, a woman who died leading a 1978 terrorist attack that killed 38 Israeli civilians, including 13 children.

Turkey To Israel: Cross Our Airspace To Bomb Iran & We Will Respond Like An Earthquake

Erdogan’s response was due to a question, in an interview with Lebanese newspaper “Al Safir”, over information indicating that Israel had violated Turkish airspace in the process of spying against Iran.

Erdogan continued,saying that certainly “the information [stating that Israel was using their airspace to spy on Iran] is incorrect.”

Israeli protest soldiers punished

Our correspondent says religious Jews see the West Bank as part of the Holy Land, given to them by God.

Last week 25 Israeli reservists signed a petition requesting exemption from Jewish settlement evacuations.

In October a group of soldiers disrupted their swearing-in ceremony in Jerusalem, calling for continued Jewish settlement in the West Bank.
