After more than a century of widespread antipathy between Catholics and evangelical Christians, a Catholic with Italian immigrant roots from the industrial Northeast has emerged as the favored presidential candidate among evangelicals. “His candidacy has the potential to reshape conservative political alignment, securing once and for all evangelical support for a conservative Catholic in public life.”

After the True Christians are put to death by Christendom during the hour of power of the beast. It will be destroyed. Revelation talks about the Harlot and the Beast which persecutes the saints (True Christians) being destroyed, along with the daughter systems (mother of harlots).

With this powerful scripture, the admonition to leave Babylon is clear. But what is Babylon? How do you know if you are in Babylon? We will attempt to answer these questions by finding what the scriptures say about the characteristics of Babylon. Based on identifying these characteristics, we should be able to recognize if we are in Babylon and if we need to come out.

That being said, Babylon the great, is a sectarian division, i.e. the Papacy and the Roman Catholic Church. It was once a “golden cup” in the hand of the Lord (Jer. 51:7; Rev. 17:4), The True Church was taken over by the Nicolatian spirit (Lording over God’s Heritage–development of the Clergy and Laity classes). But until the Reformation they were the only source of God’s Word. Not that they used it, because they had become “babylon” i.e. confusion. They allowed traditions of man equal weight with God’s Word (you can see that in an article on the Vatican Nativity scene here, though it is an older article it does show that they prefered to harmonize tradition rather and God’s Word).

D’Arcy, a well-known media figure and commentator, said the findings of the Murphy Report were “absolutely sickening.” And he said that when he served on the Council of Priests in Dublin during the 1990s, he never even “heard a hint” of accusations of abuse
“This is not just in the Diocese, this goes right to the top in Rome,” he said.

The “watchmen” are The Christ, who will be concerned for Israel. But will Jacob’s Trouble occur the moment the feet members are taken into glory? No, a period of time (about three years?) will elapse between the change of the last members in persecution and God’s deliverance of the Holy Remnant out of Jacob’s Trouble. And the Great Company must be completed during that time. Satan will be in a frenzy—like a person out of control with a bad temper or a temper tantrum. When he realizes he is losing the battle, he will want to bring the house down with him.

A perusal of the 17th and 18th chapters of the Book of Revelation shows that “Babylon the Great” represents a system which should last long, exert a subtle and extensive influence, and be guilty of exceeding iniquity and cruelty. This system must still be in existence, seeing its destruction takes place simultaneously with “the marriage of the Lamb,” an event which we know to be still future; and seeing also that up to the moment of its destruction, or very nearly so, children of God will be found more or less connected with it, so that a need will exist for the urgent call, “Come out of her, my people.”

Like Babylon, the city of Nineveh is a type of Christendom. “Woe to the bloody city!” In Revelation 17:6, John saw “the woman drunken with the blood of the saints, and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus,” and when he saw her, he “wondered with great admiration [astonishment].” Thus the Book of Revelation pictures mystic Babylon as a woman who has incurred blood-guilt responsibility down through history. Verse 1, then, in calling Nineveh “the bloody city,” starts to provide details of the judgment that is to come upon Christendom.
The bloody city “is all full of lies and robbery.” Some examples of those lies are (1) that Catholicism is the mouthpiece of God and His instrument in instructing the world in righteousness, (2) that the Roman Catholic Church is the true Church, and (3) that the pope is the vicar of Christ. The false Church has capitalized on these lies to extract support and money from its communicants. Based on this false premise, the system has enriched itself, thus “robbing” the people. Their adoration and affection for God have been perverted by this religious institution, which has misdirected worship and appropriated the people’s money for its own aggrandizement.

The call to come out of Babylon is an individual call. For the truth’s sake, one may have to leave his father, mother, sister, brother, friend, or anyone else who stays behind and obey as an individual. Christians get rooted in spiritual Babylon; they are comfortable there with their social friendships that are enjoyable, good, and wholesome for the most part. For one to come out of Babylon means to leave friendships and thus to suffer a loss. Taking a stand and leaving mystic Babylon is very searching. The call is to come out so “that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues” (Rev. 18:4). To spiritually come out of Babylon is to move from one condition to another. Sometimes very tender ties have to be broken. Then comes the Christian walk, the journeying to “Jerusalem which is above” (Gal. 4:26).

The object of these parables, then, was not to depict to our minds what the Kingdom would be like after it has been established in the world, but rather to picture before our minds something respecting the processes of development by which the Kingdom-class would be selected from amongst mankind and made ready for the Kingdom which is to be set up at the second coming of Christ in power and great glory,— when he shall establish that Millennial Kingdom for the very purpose of granting a judgment or trial to all the families of the earth—peradventure under the favorable opportunities of knowledge, etc., then granted unto them, many may choose life through obedience to God and attain it.
